Fundraising Spotlight
"Coins for Kids!"
All classes will be collecting coins during the
month of January to support the "Technology Fund" for our
school. Start collecting spare change at home and get the kids
excited about watching their classroom piggy banks grow! Each
grade will participate in a Bowling Tournament with Mr. Tynes in
February for their efforts
Never sure what to do with that perfectly good
gift you receive for the holidays but already have, or you know
will sit in the back of a closet for years and go un-used?
Wonder no more, have we got the answer for you donate them to
the Horace Mann Auction. Gifts must be new, un-opened and
un-used, and something that someone else would actually want.
Avoid the long wait in the return line, free up some much
needed closet space and best of all, take credit for a
charitable donation to Horace Mann PTO (we are a registered 510c
charity).
From the Auction Committee. Contact Jennifer
Conley at

for more information or to arrange for pickup of your donation.

Horace Mann students and families. Students must be accompanied
by a responsible adult/parent for the entire time. Tickets sold
at the door. Tickets - $5 per person with a family max of $20.
All Proceeds to benefit 5th grade graduation ceremonies.
Beverages and light munchies provided.
The PTO was able to purchase two new Elmo setups
for the school with the money raised so far this year. We are
hoping to purchase a third set up by the end of January with the
proceeds from the Spare Change Drive. We calculated that if each
child can locate $3.80 in loose change over the course of a
month, we’d have enough to purchase another complete Elmo setup.
The teachers are thrilled, and we are making the necessary steps
to "catch up" to modern technology.

donate to the Horace Mann PTO.
We did it! Half of the Horace Mann families
have made their PTO Dues donation. In celebration, we have
schedule an All School Pajama Party on Tuesday, December 22nd .
Wait until we get to 75%... big surprise to come! If you have
paid your dues, thank you. If you have not please help us reach
our next goal. Donate online at http://horacemannpto.org
We have a lot of exciting opportunities to
enrich our
children's education through Creative Arts and Science and
our commitment to moving Horace Mann's classrooms into
the 21st century. Currently, less than half of the Horace
Mann families have participated. With close to full
participation we will be able to provide our students with the
technology that most of the other Newton schools are already
using. We are asking that each family contribute $50 per
child, or whatever your family is comfortable giving. Please
drop your TAX DEDUCTIBLE checks into the dues box in the front
hall of the school or donate on line through the PTO’s website:
http://horacemannpto.org/ If your company
participates in matching funds for charitable contributions
we do qualify! Our Tax ID number is 800-033-919.
The 21st
Century Classroom Campaign
The PTO is pleased to announce
that Horace Mann is in the process of forming a technology
committee so that we may participate in this important
educational initiative. The participants include parents,
teachers and technology specialists. The goal of the committee
is to help Horace Mann evaluate its current technological status
within the Newton schools, to help teachers obtain their
technological goals and prepare for the 21st century classroom.
