About the Race:
On Sunday, October 24th, the Parent-Teacher Organization
of the Horace Mann Elementary School in Newton will be holding its 6th Annual
Family Fun Run & Walk. This event includes a 5K Run, 5K Walk, 1 mile race, and Kids Dash.
The proceeds from this race will help finance the schools annual "Fitness for Life Celebration".
"Fitness for Life" is a unique health and fitness promoting event where children, teachers and parents come
together at a local park in the spring for a day filled with physical fitness activities, lots of fun,
and a barbecue lunch.

The Horace Mann Fun Run & Walk promotes physical fitness while spending time with family & friends. Wheelchairs and Strollers are welcome.
- • 8:30 a.m. Registration Begins
• 10:30 a.m. 1 Mile Race
• 11:00 a.m. Pumpkin Dash (6 years and under)
• 11:15 a.m. 5K Fun Run & Walk - All Ages (staggered start by group)
- Courses:
- • Pumpkin Dash:
Children 6 and under can participate in
an under .3 mile flat dash along Albemarle Road from Gath Pool to Horace Mann
Lawn Finish Line.
• 1 Mile Run:
The course runs along Albemarle Road in a loop along Cheesecake Brook without crossing any major roads.
• Certified 5K Run:
Starting on Albemarle Avenue the course winds
through the historic neighborhoods of Newtonville via Crafts and Watertown Streets.
• 5K Walk:
Same as 5K Run.
